Holly Hunter is a well-known American actress as well as producer and director. Her work has been recognized for films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles and The Incredibles. Holly Hunter has won numerous awards, including her first Oscar for her movie Piano. The talented actress began her career as an actor in the theatre through a variety of Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. Passionate about acting since her school days she played Helen Keller in a play in the fifth grade. She was born deaf in the one ear due to mumps but did not let this disability dampen the determination of her to become an actor. When she was in college studying drama, she moved in New York City with her ambitions to achieve them. After a casual encounter, she became trapped in an elevator along with the playwright Beth Henley and the two collaborated in the play 'The Broadway Crimes of the Heart and made Hunter's debut. After moving from Los Angeles she tried to find film roles, and was able to secure a supporting role for the role of a supporting character in Swing Shift. Over the past three decades, she has appeared on various TV series and movies. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and she also received an award called the Women in Film Lucy Award.
